The fashion, the hair, the cocktails and Don Draper what a show......I'm obsessed with Mad Men.So I been inspired to throw a Mad Men themed cocktail party and game night. Here are some great ideas I found to throw a great Mad Men Party!

Cocktail and Cigarettes are a big part of the Mad Men show. You will always see a drink or a cig in the Sterling Cooper Draper Price office . Although we would never encourage people to smoke, we will encourage some great cocktail ideas inspired by the Characters and created by Celebrations.com

- Old Fashioned - Another one of Dons favorites
- Vodka Gimlet - One of Betty's favorites
- Heineken - The Holland beer served at the Drapers dinner party
2 fluid ounces gin
2 fluid ounces lemon juice
1 fluid ounce simple syrup
1 dash bitters
1 cup ice cubes
1/4 cup cold club soda
1 slice lemon, for garnish
1 maraschino cherry
Preparation:
1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and a dash of bitters.
2. Cover and shake until the outside of the container is frosty, about 15 seconds. Strain into a highball glass full of ice.
3. Top off with club soda and garnish with a lemon slice and maraschino cherry.
Brandy Alexander
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz brandy
1 oz dark creme de cacao
1 oz half-and-half
1/4 tsp grated nutmeg
Preparation:
1. In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the brandy, creme de cacao, and half-and-half. Shake well.
2. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with the nutmeg. Enjoy.

Old Fashioned
Ingredients:
2 oz bourbon whiskey
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 splash water
1 tsp sugar
1 maraschino cherry
1 orange wedge
Preparation:
1. Mix sugar, water and angostura bitters in an old-fashioned glass.
2. Drop in a cherry and an orange wedge. Muddle into a paste using a muddler or the back end of a spoon.
3. Pour in bourbon, fill with ice cubes, and stir. Enjoy.

Vodka Gimlet
Ingredients:
1 oz lime juice
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 tsp powdered sugar
Preparation:
1. Pour ingredients into a shaker and stir 2. Strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.

Have everyone dress the part!! I found tons of great things at local Thrift Stores or ask family members if they have anything from that time period. I went threw my Grandmothers old stuff found cute gloves and jewelry!!! |
